His study field is Respirology, specially diffuse lung disease. After graduating from Kurume University. Dr. Okamato graduated from Kurume University School of Medicine at 1998 and entered the Division of Respirology, Neurology, and Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine of the university.

Dr. Okamoto got his degree of medical science from the graduate school of the university at 2002. He made During my graduate study, He created the new model of IL-18, IL-2-induced mouse acute lung injury model during my graduate study.

Dr. Okamoto is engaged in research and clinical practice focusing on diffuse lung disease. He has published many articles on diffuse lung disease. He has also won many awards and grants on similar themes.

Dr. Okamoto is an instructor of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine and the Japanese Respiratory Society. He is also a representative of the Kyushu Chapter of the Japanese Respiratory Society.
